About

Hi, I’m Andrew. I’m a CELTA-qualified English teacher and I’ve been teaching adults for nearly 20 years, in classrooms, in companies, in adult education and, more recently, online.

I started ESL Games as a place to collect the activities that actually worked in my own classes: warmers that get tired students talking, games that make grammar stick, and speaking activities that need little or no preparation. Everything on the site has been used with real learners, and I keep adding notes on what works, what doesn’t and how to adapt each activity for different levels.

Teachers of adult learners, whether you teach general English, business English, one-to-one lessons or group classes, in a classroom or online.

LearnHip

As more of my teaching moved online, I built LearnHip, a free set of interactive tools for the virtual classroom: a random question generator, scrambled sentences, board games, hidden picture quizzes and more. Many of the activities on ESL Games have an online version there.
