Pass the Bomb – The Fast-Paced Vocabulary Game for ESL Learners

Sadly, Pass the Bomb has been discontinued, but in its place has appeared the perfect replacement Ka-blab!

Ka-blab is an exciting vocabulary game that is perfect for ESL learners of all ages and levels.

How to Play Ka-blab

Ka-blab is a simple game that is easy to learn and play. The game comes with a deck of cards that depict different categories. Players take turns drawing a card from the deck and must then come up with a word or phrase related to the theme of the card.

The twist? Players only have a limited amount of time to come up with their word or phrase! Once the timer runs out, the bomb “explodes,” and the player holding the bomb is given .

I recommend playing a simplified version of the game in which students only need to come up with one vocabulary item before passing on the dice. Another change I make is that instead of sitting out the round, anyone caught with the bomb simply gets to keep the card that was in play. The winner is the person at the end of the game holding the least cards. I also fix the deck so that only suitable categories are produced. depending on the level of the class.

Why Choose Ka-blab?

Ka-blab is a great choice for ESL learners for several reasons. First and foremost, it’s a fun and engaging way to practice vocabulary related to different situations and locations. It also encourages quick thinking and word association skills, which are important for improving overall language proficiency.

Overall, Ka-blab is a fantastic game for ESL learners that is sure to bring some excitement and energy to your classroom. Give it a try today!
